Bluesky guides
We are committed to hiring women, primarily single mothers in La Soledad Village, providing them with a sustainable source of income and the opportunity to enhance their self-confidence.
We aim to address and break down the existing gender stereotypes surrounding labor roles within the community.
By actively challenging these stereotypes, we hire women from La Soledad Village, support their economic empowerment, create equal job opportunities, and contribute to the community’s development.
As part of our commitment to their professional development, we pay our local guides a livable wage and provide ongoing staff training to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to lead successful hikes.
BlueSky Adventures takes pride in being the first hiking tour agency that advocates for equal labor rights and actively challenges traditional notions of gender roles in the La Soledad Village community.

Jorge
Jorge is born in La Soledad Village. In his early life, Jorge started as a full-time tourist guide 7 years ago in Acatenango Volcano. Today, he is one of our lead guides.
Leydi
Leidy is a single mother from La Soledad Village. She has become one of our first female local guides. Her recipe of Guatemalan hospitality and passion for hiking tour volcanos wins over every one of our hiker guests.
Brenda
Before becoming a guide, she worked outside La Soledad Village in different occupations, such as farming and helping at her relative’s home while raised in this community. This experience gave her knowledge about the community and its surroundings.
Benjamin
Raised in La Soledad Village, Benjamin gained experience through his family’s farming activities and spending time in the forest. He has been working as a guide since 2022.
Mirian
Mirian is one of the younger members of the BlueSky Adventures team, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to every hike. Originally from La Soledad Village, she has grown up surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Acatenango. Despite her young age, Mirian is a skilled and knowledgeable guide, always ensuring guests feel safe, informed, and inspired on their journey.
